Leadership, Confidence & Posture
Our signature Gracie Barra method builds a leadership mindset and body awareness to neutralize any hostility peacefully and ethically.
Bullies target children who appear weak or insecure. We teach your child to maintain active eye contact, stand tall, keep shoulders back, and form a protective "hands up" barrier.
A firm, confident voice can de-escalate most difficult situations. We teach simple scripts so your child can boldly say "Stop that!" or "Do not touch me!" without shouting or escalating.
What if a bully gets physical? We teach safe, non-violent Gracie Barra techniques to neutralize and hold an attacker on the ground without ever dealing any strikes.
We've structured a supportive, 90-minute session for your child to learn and thrive.
09:45 AM - Welcome Champions
Arrive 15 minutes early and show your ticket. Kids enter Gracie Barra's clean, climate-controlled lobby, slide off their shoes, and safely store their items in our safe storage cubbies.
10:00 AM - Interactive Drills
Our head coach leads fun games designed to break the ice, foster mutual respect, and teach a "hero stance"— standing tall with eye contact and confident presence.
10:20 AM - Verbal Boundary Building
Through safe, roleplay-style theater, children practice firm verbal boundary setting with calm hand gestures, immediately halting name-calling and protecting their personal dignity.
10:45 AM - Non-Violent Physical Defense
Our highly trained black belt instructors show how to smoothly slip away from wrist-grabs, collar-pulls, or pushes. They learn how to safely pin an opponent on the mat without employing any strikes.
11:15 AM - Medals & Celebration
To celebrate their courage, kids receive a commemorative workshop certificate and custom medal. Our coach gathers everyone for a group photo and hosts an open Q&A session with parents.
Common Parent Concerns
We have compiled answers to the most common questions about the workshop's dynamics and safety.
Yes, it is 100% free with absolutely no hidden fees, obligations, or contracts. Our goal at Gracie Barra Sanford is to support and educate our local community against the silent impact of school bullying, offering a safe haven with top-tier technical training.
Since this is an introductory workshop, a traditional uniform (Gi) is not required. We recommend comfortable athletic or physical education clothes: a light t-shirt and sweatpants or shorts. Bringing a water bottle is also highly recommended!
Absolutely! The workshop is designed specifically for complete beginners. Our instructors have years of specialized pedagogical training to welcome and accommodate children who are shy, hyperactive, or have never stepped on a martial arts mat before.
The event is specifically focused on children aged 4 to 12. We divide the kids into sub-groups by age on the mat (Champions: 4-7 years old, and Juniors: 8-12 years old) to ensure the learning pace and physical safety are ideal for their size.
Without a doubt! We not only permit but strongly encourage mothers, fathers, and grandparents to sit in our integrated lounge viewing area to watch, record videos, take photos, and cheer on their child's immediate progress!
We practice Gracie Barra's signature non-violent positional self-defense. Children do NOT learn punches, kicks, or aggressive strikes. Instead, they learn: how to maintain a safe distance from an aggressor, how to break free from arm grabs, how to defuse sudden advances, and how to use gentle control positions on the ground until a supervisor arrives.
